Out of Warwick and into Africa
Rose and Crown General Manager Suzie swapped the cosy atmosphere of the pub for the sweltering heat of the Maasai Mara in Kenya to join our recent charity expedition.
Along with Lee and Hamish the bosses, and James Neal a chef from our sister pub The Star & Garter in Leamington, Suzie helped plant 20,000 trees in a week on the Enonkishu Conservancy on the northern boundary of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem.
She also handed over a cheque for a million Kenyan shillings (£7,000) collected from donations from the pub to the conservancy to go towards African wildlife and conservation projects, went to a cattle market to buy a cow as part of a project to promote sustainable farming, slept out in the bush and hiked across the Maasai Mara.
